Samuel is now 7 months old and is continuing to become more like a person. His major milestone this month was moving around and getting into everything. His favorite thing to chase after are the power cables for our laptops, but that just shows that he’s our son.
He is very close to being able to crawl and is able to make it across the room in only a minute or two by scooting. Photos in the album linked below.
There is a new issue of Samuel Superhero below, we hope you enjoy seeing his playfulness as much as we do.
Samuel turned 1/2 year (6 months) today, the same day as his Gigi’s Birthday (Happy Birthday Grandmommy!). He has grown so much this month and accomplished many things. This is a bit of a long post, but there were so many fun memories, photos, and videos that I just had to share!
He is eating “real” food every night before he goes to bed now, and he LOVES Bananas. Tonight he ate an entire banana (pureed) and a bit of rice cereal. Of course he is really good at putting just about everything in his mouth.
He re-learned how to roll from his stomach to his back and from then on has become a rolling machine. Most of the time he just does rolling laps around his playmat, but one day I found him in the middle of the room and then watched as he rolled all the way across the room in a matter of minutes.
When Joe got home he put together his “baby prison”(playpen) and decided to try it out.
This video is 10 minutes of him playing speed up to be only 1 minute. This was him playing just after he turned 5 months, so he is actually much more active than this now, but it’s a fun video.
He’s becoming stronger and stronger every day now and managed somehow to get his tree and giraffe on the playmat stuck together.
Since he’s so strong now he’s helping with the laundry.
He’s also learning to stop the advances of girls. His friend Emily was innocently trying to kiss him/bite his face.
Samuel however, turned away at the last minute. I’m so proud of him!
We also had a fun visit with my friends Brenda & Andrea. They had a really great time with Samuel as you can see in the photos:
Brenda & Samuel
Andrea & Samuel
They also taught him all kinds of things that are far too early for him:
How to use an iPhone
How to drink Soda, although he needs a bit more practice. After this picture was taken he dumped the entire glass on Joe.
How to play Settlers of Cattan
This was such a big month for Samuel and we are so excited to see what this next month has in store. As always there are a bunch more photos in the new albums below:
Samuel had a really fun Christmas filled with a bunch of activity. A warning from here on out – my gift for Christmas this year was a very nice camera which has made me take even MORE pictures. As always, make sure to click on each of the photos to be taken to the album which has even MORE photos.
It all started with him getting some photos with his baby friends:
Then on Christmas Eve we went to church and got all dressed up:
On Christmas Day he had his first taste of real food. We gave him Avocado because we thought the color was appropriate for the day:
We also let him play with the wrapping paper and I found a gift under the tree:
In the afternoon I made some sandwiches and we went on a picnic to our favorite park – Heilmann Regional Park:
That night while Samuel was sleeping Joe and I watched a bunch of Charlie Brown Christmas movies on Hulu. After that for the next week we had the Grandparents come visit.
First to visit was Nonno & Noni:
Nonno decided to introduce Samuel to tennis balls, hoping that he would follow in his and Joe’s footsteps:
Then he had time with Grandpa and Grandma:
All in all we had a fun Christmas time and are excited to see how Samuel enjoys it as he gets older.
This update on Samuel is a few weeks late because we were waiting for people to look through our Christmas Card 2009.
Samuel turned 5 months old on Christmas day and is continuing to grow, despite my continued pleas to never grow up. He has a bunch of hair, but it’s still hard to tell if it’s brown, red, blonde, or a combination of all three. His eyes are getting lighter, but they are still blue so we don’t know what color they are going to turn out. Incase you were wondering the chance of blue eyes for him is 18%. He learned how to turn over onto his stomach from his back and hasn’t stopped since, even though he hates being on his stomach. Take a look at a bunch of great photos in the album:
He also had a bunch of fun with friends especially his “Baby Whisperer” Amy, here are some photos:
I also know where he gets his mischievousness from:
P.S. Samuel is now 5 Months old. There are some updates in the Christmas card and the full update will happen in a week to allow everyone to find all of the items in the card.
We were at church for a long time yesterday as a family. Our friends thought that the way that Samuel was sleeping reminded them of something else, so they added to the idea. This picture makes Joe and I laugh a lot.
Samuel is becoming more and more like a human with a personality. We also think he is going to be a shy baby because he smiles, giggles, babbles, and coos so much more when it’s just Joe and I at home. It’s crazy to think that we found out about Samuel exactly a year ago.
Samuel is growing up quickly into a little man as evidenced by the photos below. It probably helps that we dressed him like a grownup this past weekend. Both of the grandparents came for the weekend and it was a fun time.
On Halloween we had a lot of fun dressing up Samuel as a Starfleet Officer. To be more specific he wore a uniform from Star Trek:The Next Generation and the color he is wearing is for Security, Operations, and Engineering. We choose it obviously for Engineering. My mom made the incredible shirt that he is wearing and we found a pin that worked well as a communicator. He wears it well with his intense stare that he likes to do.
Then on Sunday, November 1st we dedicated Samuel to the LORD. It was a really special moment for us because we went onto the same stage that we got married on. Pastor Tonye had some great words to share about the meaning behind a dedication, that it is a time for the parents to declare how they want to raise the child. Also he mentioned that it is not a baptism because a baptism requires that the person has made a commitment to follow Christ. Also praying with us was Pastor Jack, Brian (head of Chidren’s Ministry and friend of Joe), and our good friends Josh & Sandra who are his Godparents.
We came home and had a quick little family photo shoot that turned out well. It’s crazy to think the last family photo was almost 3 months ago.
P.S. Joe also got an early Christmas present of a MacBook Pro which allowed us to download all of the photos that were on our camera. Take a look at the new Samuel 3 Months album for more photo fun.
