Anniversary Fun & LEVEL Studios Launch

Joe and I had a great time last night. We both got dressed up and went to Madonna Inn, where we got to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary (a few weeks late). The food was fabulous (we both got steak) and they gave us a free slice of cake and an anniversary balloon. There was a great band playing a bunch of oldies, jazz, and swing. Joe was so sweet and took me out to the dance floor for a song. Madonna Inn is still one of my favorite places to go.

After that we went to my work party. Yesterday they changed their name to LEVEL Studios and had a big party to celebrate. Since the new brand is so hip, the event was a red carpet affair and had lots of photographs. Everything was free so I got to have a Shirley Temple, which is a fun treat. Here’s a photo of us from the night.

Kristen’s Semi-Professional Site

My professional website was getting pretty old – I made it 6 years ago for a class at Cal Poly and it wasn’t updated much since then. So I decided now was a good time to update it, since it’s being linked to more now that I’m presenting at the Central Coast Code Camp.

Take a look at it and let me know what you think. I made it one night using iWeb so don’t look at the code :)

Back From Florida

Joe and I just got back from a fun week in Florida with his family to visit his grandparents who live there. We were in Clearwater which is just outside of Tampa. It was very beautiful there, and his grandparents put us in a hotel that was literally on the beach next to the Gulf Coast.

The weather was a bit stormy so we didn’t go outside very much, but we went to a bunch of museums. My favorite museum was probably the Museum of Science and Industry, where we picked up a large fossil rock formation that is a bit modern in how it was cut (I will post a photo soon). We also went to the Salvador Dali museum (wouldn’t recommend), and the Museum of Fine Arts where my favorite parts were some of the modern paintings, the glass sculptures, and an Ansel Adams display (his technique is simply amazing).

Other than museums we watched two fun movies at home (Bee Movie and Happy Feet), went to some fabulous restaurants, and Joe and I watched a whole lot of HGTV – which is what we do whenever we are around cable.

All in all it was a relaxing getaway with family.

P.S. Joe and I also celebrated our second year of marriage!

Dean & Jessica’s Wedding

I had a fun time at Dean & Jessica’s wedding this last Saturday. It was a beautiful location and everyone was a bit quirky. Yes, they smashed the cake in eachother’s face and Dean put on a snorkel set before he got the garter off. I think it was because it was a desert reception, so everyone was on a sugar high. Fun times.

Sandra gave us a bunch of photos from the night, so enjoy!

Ephesians Movie

At work they asked for creative projects that they could highlight from their employees, so I decided to send in the Ephesians project (check it out here). It’s kind of intimidating because there are so many talented creative people at my company, but it’s such a great opportunity to share how the Word of God is relevant to everyday life. My prayer is that it represents Him well, especially since the project is so old (I completed it 5 years ago).

Work came back and asked me if I could put it into a Quicktime movie format, so I decided to make a full blown movie out of it during my lunch break yesterday. I hope you enjoy it, click on the image below to open it in a new browser window.

Josh & Sandra’s Wedding

Joe and I had a wonderful time getting to be a part of Josh & Sandra’s wedding on July 5th. They are a really great couple and dear friends of both of us. We are so excited for them and can’t wait to see all of the great things that the Lord does in them and through them.

Here is a photo that was captured that day, and I can’t wait to see some more:

Here are two photos from the rehearsal picnic:

P.S. We haven’t posted about it because we have been waiting for photos.

Goodbye Bear

We laid to rest Bear tonight. He developed labored breathing so we took him to the emergency hospital. Through X-rays we found out that his heart had shifted to the wrong side and that likely there was a hole in his only good lung. We will miss him very much, but he will be remembered by us and online (he was featured on Stuff on My Cat). Bear was 2 years old.

So Long For Now Jonathan

We said a fond farewell to our good friend Jonathan, who is moving to Chico, by working alongside him to have a fun group of people over. We had a wonderful time with old and new friends and hope that he will come back to visit soon.

Joe’s 25th Birthday

Joe’s 25th Birthday was over a month ago now, but we had a great time with friends. It was a surprise party where we had dinner at Tahoe Joe’s and then went to see Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. We were finally able to get the pictures back from our friends and post them up online, enjoy.

Alaska Cruise

The photos from our Alaska cruise are now posted online. Take a look.
